It is a mineral that is an iron chromium oxide. An oxide belongs to the spinel group. Chromium is extracted from chromite and used in chrome plating and alloying production of corrosion-resistant nichrome, superalloys and stainless steel, as a pigment for glazes, glass and paint, as oxidizing agent leather.
